Many employees still have the classic Windows version for their Microsoft Outlook. This is acceptable to have, but these keyboard shortcuts differ in many ways compared to the new Windows version. Below is a portion of frequently used shortcuts for the classic Windows version.
- Create a new message: Crtl + Shift + M
- Select the Reply All option: Alt + H, R, A
- Insert a hyperlink: Ctrl + K (same as Windows new)
- Underline text: Ctrl + U (same as Windows new)
- Flag a message or mark as complete: Insert (same as Windows new)
- Go to the next message: Down arrow key
- Create a meeting request: Ctrl + Shift + Q
- Create a task: Ctrl + Shift + K
- Increase indent: Ctrl + T
- Clear the search results: Esc
- Search for text within an open item: F4
- Open the Print Options dialog box: Alt + F, P, R
- Delete the selected category form the list in the Color categories dialog: Alt + D
- Open the Address Book: Ctrl + Shift + B
- Rename a selected folder in the list of folders: F2
- Set the junk mail options: Alt + H, J, O
Below are some shortcuts of what the classic version does NOT have, that the new version does:
- Paste content from the clipboard into the current location
- Close a new message
- Go to the top of a conversation or message
- Go to the calendar
- Open the Quick /Switcher
- Open Board view
- Delete a contact or contact list
- Save a contact or contact list
- Display the list of People keyboard shortcuts
